TODAY ON USA TODAY...(UPDATE)

FED CON-2010

...la settimana scorsa sono stato a Bonn, ospite della decima FEDCON, la più grande convention di fantascienza in Europa.
Ho avuto modo di vedere da vicino alcuni degli attori che interpretano i miei personaggi preferiti nelle serie che più amo (come AARON DOUGLAS ,che è stato davvero un grande o JAMES MARSTERS) oppure che hanno interpretato personaggi che disegnato spesso, come MICHAEL DORN o l'onnipresente JAMES MARSTERS!
Ho visto costumi straordinari ed altri straordinariamente imbarazzanti e ho fatto interviste per le quali sarò preso in giro a vita da amici, studenti e colleghi (perdono, imparerò a migliorare il mio inglese!!!)
Ho rivisto volti familiari che è sempre un piacere incontrare come STEFFEN, MARCUS e SUSANNE.
Sono stato letteralmente viziato da FILIP e ANDREAS i miei amici della CROSS CULT la casa editrice che pubblica in Germania i miei fumetti di Star Trek, e che riescono sempre a farmi sentire questa strana creatura a metà strada tra una superstar e un amico di vecchia data!

...ma soprattutto ci sono stati loro, i lettori!
Fans, Trekkers, o Trekkies, chiamateli come volete ma loro erano lì, semplicemente straordinari!
Purtroppo non ho mai avuto (finora) il piacere di incontrare i miei lettori americani o quelli Francesi (che stanno cominciando a leggere i miei albi adesso) e per quello che riguarda l'Italia neppure a parlarne vista la gestione imbarazzante del licensing di Star Trek in questo paese.
Il mio unico vero contatto (parlare direttamente, incontrarli, fare disegni) con i lettori di Countdown, Nero, Spock, Mirror Image è stato solo in Germania, e per descrivere la loro gentilezza, il loro affetto, il sincero interesse che mostrano senza mai diventare la caricatura del fanboy, io non trovo altre parole che GRAZIE!
Sono quel genere di persone che ti ricordano perchè vale la pena di restare in piedi a disegnare fino alle 4 del mattino o perchè a volte è meglio ridisegnare da capo una tavola
anche 3 o 4 volte!

...ancora una volta GRAZIE!


...last week I was in Bonn at the FEDCON the biggest sci-fi con in Europe.

I had the chance to meet the actors who played some of my favorite characters in the TV shows I loved most (like AARON DOUGLAS who's funny and very kind and JAMES MARSTERS) or some actors who played characters that I drew often like MICHAEL DORN or the omnipresent JAMES MARSTERS!
I've seen many extraordinary cosplayers and extraordinarily embarassing ones as well...then I've done interviews in english ( OMG!) and because of those my friends,collegues and students will make fun of me,
(I promise, I'll improve my english!!!!)
I've seen familiar faces and that 's always a pleasure to meet again like STEFFEN, MARCUS and SUSANNE.
I was totally spoilt by FILIP and ANDREAS my friends from CROSS CULT the german publisher of my books, who always treat me as a mix beteween a superstar and an old friend!

...but the most important thing was that I finally had the chance to meet the readers!!!!

Call them Fans, Trekkers, Trekkies, call them whatever you prefer, but they were there, totally awesome!
Unfortunately I haven't the pleasure to meet (until now) the American's readers or the French ones (that are starting now to read my books)...about the situation in Italy there's no word since the management of the Star Trek licensing in my country is embarassing.
My only chance to meet in person the readers of Star Trek Countdown, Nero, Spock, Mirror Images, was with the German ones, and in order to describe their kindness,
their slice, their sincere interest they show without being the parody of a fanboy, I ve no words but THANK YOU!

They remember me why I spent so much time late at night drawing or why I redraw several times the same page until it comes out in the best way!

I'm here because of you, guys...

...è stata un esperienza fantastica!

Oggi ho ricevuto le mie copie del paperback di Countdown, e sono stato davvero felice di vedere quanto fosse buona la stampa!
I ragazzi della IDW hanno davvero fatto un lavoro eccezionale!

Volevo solo ringraziare ancora una volta RICK STERNBACH,senior illustrator per le serie televisive come Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek Voyager e film quali Star Trek Nemesis e Solaris.
Rick mi ha contattato attraverso il mio blog e mi ha aiutato su alcuni aspetti del design della miniserie, e senza il suo aiuto questo fumetto sarebbe stato meno bello e accurato e i fans mi avrebbero sicuramente ucciso!


Today I've received my copies of the Countdown TPB, and I was really happy to see how much good is the print of this book!
The IDW's guys has done really a great work!

I just want to thanks once time again RICK STERNBACH, senior illustrator for the franchise, he does of a lot of incredible work for tv show like Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek Voyager and movie like Star Trek Nemesis and Solaris.
Rick has contacted me on my mail and help me on some stuff in the series, without his help this book should be less cool and accurate and the fans would have kill me!

NEW YORK COMIC CON

...sono tornato ieri da New York, dove c'è da poco stata la NYCC e dove ho passato alcuni giorni a visitare la città.
La convention è stata grande, ed è stato un piacere rivedere degli amici (vecchi e nuovi)
con alcuni dei quali avevo parlato (per anni) solo via mail!
